Education Ideas in Florida

education_diplomaThis is mostly just a test on this category, mainly to just put something into it, but after a glance, looks to be interesting. Not saying I’m agreeing or disagreeing with it, like I said, just needed an article to post.

  1. Dan Biezad says:

Let’s see: Florida proposes lower tuition for STEM students in public universities, and racially based proficiency rates in STEM fields. The voters don’t like it. As always, here is the key question: Where is the data supporting these proposals?

If you read between the lines, the two proposals seem to be driven by what business needs, including the tacit realization that minorities don’t quite make the grade (statistically). In this way the public education system subsidizes business training expenses. There seems to be little difference between this type of lobbying and business lobbying in the legislatures. The philosophy is: “What’s good for business is good for America, in its education and in its laws.”

If you wonder who Grover Norquist is and why he rules the nation, look no further than these proposals. Sooner or later we will wake up to the fact that these guys don’t care what we think. Perhaps there is a chance for us if it is sooner.
